Why I like being a teacher in Colombia

teach in Colombia

Ethnic diversity is a big section of why I decided to come teach in Colombia. Being of mixed background, myself, Ive been considering other cultures and ethnicities, then when I needed the chance to come reside in a country with a lot of different styles, I knew I couldnt pass up. The varied cultural heritage may be the consequence of the interaction between native inhabitants of the united states, Spanish colonists, African people who were originally held as slaves, plus more recent immigrants from the Middle East and Europe. In the event you thought the United States was the sole melting pot of backgrounds, you're wrong! I had been desperate to understand every one of these different sets of people and how they have combined efforts to give Colombia the taste it's got today.

Nevertheless the diversity isnt just regarding the people, the geography is equally as varied - or more! Its actually the most megadiverse country per square kilometer on the planet! Most of the big cities will be in the Andes highlands, so thats what individuals mostly think of when they consider Colombia, but it actually encompasses area of the Amazon rainforest and both Caribbean and Pacific coastlines. There are actually 6 main regions of the united states, geography-wise, which results in a lot of diversity.

If youre in any way considering animals, then you'll love Colombia. Its the most biodiverse country on earth, meaning it has the highest rate of species by area as well as the largest variety of species that aren't found somewhere else in the world! Colombia is your place to see a number of the rarest breeds in the world, with more than 1800 different kinds of birds and 450 forms of mammals, not to mention the a large number of different types of fish, both fresh and salt-water. Where else on the planet could you visit a jaguar, Amazon river dolphin, blue and yellow macaw, and banded armadillo all inside the borders of a single country?

You shouldnt take into account safety, despite whatever you decide and have often heard in news bulletins in recent years. For a long time, conflicts in Colombia deterred tourists from coming to or surviving in the country, but recently facts tourists have skyrocketed, thanks to vast improvements in security in the nation. In reality, over 3 million tourists visited in 2011, up about 11% from previous years.
